Super Hero – 8 years Later

On one hand, I’ve slowed down a lot in terms of what I post to Facebook, but I love when it shows me pictures from years past.  This one was of Calen in 2012

Calen - Super Hero

He leaps tall fridges in a single bound

Sometimes the kids roll their eyes at me when I show them this stuff, but this time they were on board for a remake.  The only problem was, it’s a new style fridge and Calen can’t climb it like he used to.  So Mallory helped. And yes, he did still have the mask from years ago!

With a little help from his sister

These days he does most of his leaping and flipping at the gym.  Level 7 Men’s Gymnastics… here we come!

Our Lifegroup at church schedules a couple camping trips each year… one in the spring and one in the fall. This year for the fall trip, a lot of folks weren’t able to make it so we cancelled. But the kids were super excited to go hiking, so we planned a smaller local trip and […]

Halloween 2015

The kids picked their own costumes this year. Mallory chose the bride of Frankenstein. She has been into the show Monster High which may have influenced her decision. Calen chose a skeleton. Both were eager to get into character.

The big worry was the weather. Leading up to Halloween, it looked as if it were going to rain all evening, so it was a blessing when about the time we were ready to head out, the rain stopped. I made a pass with Kylie and Keira (as well as our friends John and his son Logan) around the short loop, while Angie went with Mallory and Calen around the big loop.

Chuck and Kat stayed back at the house to hand out candy, though Trick or Treat traffic was slow this year. A smart group of older kids stopped by about half hour after the rest of the trick or treaters were done “batting cleanup”, and so they each received a large handful in hopes of reduce the chances that we have a pile of candy in the house until Easter.

Daddy Daughter Dance

I had a date the other night… Mallory and I went to a Daddy Daughter dance at her school. It was a lot of fun, especially to see how excited she was about it. She got a new dress and changed her earrings. I even let her wear a little bit of her moms perfume. She picked out my tie and buttoned my jacket before we left.

It was a double date with her friend Piper and Pipers dad. We all ate at a Mexican restaurant in Eagleville. Then we went to the dance. Mallory shifted between dancing and playing with balloons. All in all it was fantastic. I’m not a dancer, but when your 6 yr old daughter gets dressed up and reaches out for your hand, you dance.
