Rock Island State Park, TN

Our Lifegroup at church schedules a couple camping trips each year… one in the spring and one in the fall. This year for the fall trip, a lot of folks weren’t able to make it so we cancelled. But the kids were super excited to go hiking, so we planned a smaller local trip and headed over to Rock Island State park with the Garcia’s. My only complaint is that we didn’t have enough time, but that gives us a reason to head back again soon. Next time, I think we’ll plan to camp overnight.

We didn’t do as much pure hiking as we did seeing some of the exciting sights. The “Downstream Trail” started us out by some beautiful falls that are coming out of caves. That also took us by the little falls which the kids loved because they could climb up in the cave and see the spring. Then we went below the damn and since the water was low, we could hike on/explore the riverbed, which was amazing. Beau came and was a champ, having no problems making his way up the trails and across the rocks and boulders.

Angie hasn’t been to Fall Creek Falls, so we may head there next time, but Rock Island is definitely on the repeat list.
